These weeks I was a little absent from the Blender world. Sometimes I just need to do something different, and to be honest there are so many new things to learn in the 2.5 area, that I just got tired and needed some relax.

So, I’ve been painting. Painting a lot. Not only digital painting but also traditional oil technique. In this process I have found several amazing artists, re-discovered several old favourites, and learn quite a bit.

There is probably nothing better than painting to realize important facts about lighting and shading. Do paint !

These were all done in MyPaint, sometimes with colour correction in Gimp. I’ll post my oil painting work when the paint dries

Last weekend I was killing time with the tablet and MyPaint.

I started this image as a quick sketch for the characters of my short movie project Mercator Project and then I got excited and kept painting adding detailes. Now I feel it gained the right to join the gallery

I painted it part in MyPaint and other bit in Gimp using the wonderful brush set of Gimp Paint Studio.

I took a picture of my daughter riding her tricycle but quality was so bad I decided to turn it into a painting. Here it is. Done in Gimp.
