Maloyó: First walkcycle

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Maloyo y PocoyoA very good thing about Pocoyó is that animations are mostly ciclic or preset: Pocoyó has a bunch of walkcycles, dancecycles, etc, that are always the same thru the chapters. Excellent for NLA magic.
I started by doing this kind of animations and begun with a simple walkcycle for the first shot of my short movie project. (more…)

Maloyó Project: Step One

PocoyóIf you have kids, you probably know Pocoyó. If you don’t, YOU SHOULD !. Pocoyó is a wonderful CG animation for kids, about a little boy and a few more characters like a duck, an elephant, and a dog. Its visual style is so simple, that immediately catches the eye. And the animation style is …well… COOL. It’s full of constant poses, and quick changes.

Anyway, I was so fond on this that I decided to make a little project of my own, imitating as much as possible the style and animation of a Pocoyó chapter. The main idea is to reproduce the style and feel of a Pocoyó chapter, but the story of course will not have anthing to do with Pocoyó itself, it’s mainly about my baby daughter who would probably be the only one who liked it anyway :)

For this project I will use my little character up there to the right and I’m going to register the advance of it in this blog.

It was part of the iParty9, an event where freaks from all over gather and spent a whole weekend working and playing with computers…all night long.

To me the most important aspect of Blendiberia was meeting all the people in Spain I knew from when I started blending… long ago in 1998: Javier Belanche, Nicolas “Caronte” Morenas, Carlos “Klopes” Lopez and Carlos “8tintin” Folch. They were all there except for Javier who couldn’t make it from Barcelona where he was pretty busy at that time. (more…)
